UBB informs that after 29 November 2024 the processing of transfers and payments to IBAN numbers of bank accounts containing a code RZBB.

Since the end of 2023, the customers of the former KBC Bank Bulgaria have been gradually given the opportunity to use in parallel their existing IBAN account numbers containing RZBB, and the new ones containing UBBS. For their convenience, their remittances were broadcast from the new UBBS IBANs from the moment of their transfer to the merged bank’s systems. This left only the need to notify the parties ordering money to them of the recent dropping of the RZBB IBAN. Thus, after November 29 this year, transfers will only be possible to the IBANs of accounts containing UBBS. The change does not affect customer accounts in any way in terms of availability, terms and accessibility.

“This is the final step of the integration of the former KBC Bank Bulgaria to UBB. I would like to thank all our clients for their patience and loyalty throughout the complex process we have been passing through together. I thank our teams who have dedicated significant efforts to keeping clients informed and supported throughout the IBAN transition. We are ready to assist our customers if they have any questions.,” said Peter Roebben, CEO of UBB.

Over the past months, UBB has implemented a large-scale information campaign focusing on the bank’s individual and business customers, aimed at successfully securing payments after the expiry date of the RZBB IBAN.

  • For this purpose, a special section was created on UBB’s corporate website, which contains guidance on the new UBBS IBAN account numbers and advice on what customers need to do to learn their IBAN and share it with those from whom they receive remittances.
  • All digital customers with a RZBB IBAN on their accounts see next to the account number its validity, as well as the new, UBBS IBAN.
  • All customers with RZBB IBANs on accounts receive periodic reminders of the impending change and guidance on what to do.
  • Whenever a transfer to the RZBB IBAN is attempted through UBB’s digital channels, the customer-originators are reminded of the approaching expiry of the RZBB IBAN.
  • Individual and micro customers receive notifications whenever a transfer is made to their RZBB IBAN, while large business customers receive personal attention from their Relationship Managers.
  • Information materials are provided at the bank’s branches and customers can also obtain a free account certificate.
  • When calling the UBB contact centre, a recording can be heard reminding customers of the validity of the RZBB IBAN and guidance on where to find more information.
  • UBB has given a new dimension to its partnerships with industry and philanthropic organisations, as well as business associations, and invited them to engage and notify members of the upcoming change.
  • UBB also implemented an effective partnership with various institutions, through which the majority of the bank’s customers have already successfully changed their IBANs to the new ones containing UBBS.

There are still customers who receive payments on accounts containing RZBB. In order not to get into a situation where they do not receive the money they expect, the bank urges its customers not to wait for the deadline and to make sure that those from whom they expect to receive payments – employers, universities, schools, managing authorities of European programmes, relatives, friends, etc. – have and use the new IBAN number containing UBBS.

For their part, as before, UBB staff are on hand to provide any assistance needed in the process of replacing the old accounts containing RZBB with the new ones with IBAN UBBS, by issuing free certificates for the new account number containing UBBS, providing advice and information through all channels of the bank.

More information on the possibilities to be informed about the new IBAN containing UBBS and how to share it can be found on the UBB website.
