The British Residence in Sofia hosted an inspiring event dedicated to green transformation, sustainable business models and responsible consumption. Organised by the Department of Business and Trade (DBT) at the British Embassy, the event showcased a carefully curated selection of British brands – both established leaders in sustainable production and companies that are enthusiastically starting to develop their practices towards more sustainable and conscious business.
From “clean” cosmetics and “slow fashion” to recyclable materials – British brands showcased innovative approaches to reducing their carbon footprint, implementing circular business models and using environmentally friendly resources to support biodiversity.
Among the participating companies were:
- The Body Shop and Lush – leaders in sustainable and ethical cosmetics
- Laura Ashley – an emblem of British style and home comfort
- Alchemista – presenting luxury British fragrances and cosmetics (AMLY, Jorum Studio, Sarah Baker, Boujee Bougies)
- Medik8, Intelpharm and Zlatna Ribka – uniting leading brands for skin and hair care (Medik8, Scottish Fine Soaps, Yardley, Grace Cole, Kent, English Soap Company, Fruit Works and Philip Kingsley, Hairburst, West barn & Co);

During the event, guests had the opportunity to enjoy a special selection of British food and drinks – from traditional English tea and beer to authentic British delicacies, which contributed to the creation of an authentic atmosphere, carrying the spirit of the United Kingdom. British brands were represented by their partners in Bulgaria – HIT Max, Dar ot Bogovete, Costa Coffee, Axxon (representing Ahmad Tea) and Beer Shop.
In his welcome, the British Ambassador, H.E. Nathaniel Copsey, emphasized that sustainability is a key commitment that requires active actions from both businesses and consumers and added:
“Tonight is not just about brands – it is about all of us! With every new idea, with every new partnership, we build bridges – between our cultures, markets and people.”
The event “The Best of Britain: Green and Magnificent” confirmed the role of the UK as a global leader in sustainable development, green innovation and climate-smart business practices. It showed that the future of style and comfort is inextricably linked to protecting the planet and taking a responsible approach to our shared natural resources.
