The speaker TEDxVitosha presents today is a person who is never bored.
Dr. Markus Rach gets into his professional field by pure chance. When, 20 years ago, he starts working for an oil & gas company in Switzerland, he is assigned the task to align marketing with the business strategy. He realizes that in the industry at the time marketing is an under-used and unexplored world, often reduced to selecting corporate gifts. He throws himself into his new field with passion.
This is how Markus becomes a marketeer. He works for many companies and grows to Senior Vice President roles in charge of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
He has a curious mind. He wants to see how people live around the world, so he embarks to Melbourne, Australia for his MBA – to be as far away from home as possible, literally. Later, in 2021, after many years in the marketing field, an opportunity to teach in China appears. Markus grabs it. He spends 2 years in Asia. The experience enriches the life of his family and the classes of his students.
Markus gets back to Europe to become a teacher at FHNW – University of Applied Sciences of Northwestern Switzerland. He has a clear purpose: to share his own understanding of the essence of marketing, and teach people on the practical skills that the industry actually needs.
But what is the relationship between marketing and climate change? Find out at TEDxVitosha.
