Petar Kanchev, Synergo’s cofounder and CEO, just published the fantasy novel “Маската на кукера” (The Mask of the Kuker), the second instalment of the saga that began with “Сянката на кукера” (The Shadow of the Kuker).
The premiere of the novel will be held on 26.02 at 19:00 in Gramophone Live & Events Club.
Inspired by the ritual dance of the kukeri and echoing the epic sweep of authors such as Andrzej Sapkowski and Joe Abercrombie, the novel plunges readers into the perilous fate of the kingdom of Isporia—an imaginative reflection of the Second Bulgarian Empire—now standing on the brink of conquest. As pagan vows are broken, shadows bargained with, and Aionian legions marching ever closer, Kanchev weaves a story of masks layered upon masks, of honour and betrayal, and of the fragile human heart tempted by both pain and Evil. Epic, visceral and unmistakably rooted in our cultural memory, Maskata na Kukera is a celebration of Bulgarian folklore and myth reimagined for the modern reader.
