The UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT) are launching the department’s first global tech awards Unicorn Kingdom: Pathfinder Awards (UKPA), to unearth and showcase the most promising scale up companies in the tech industry. The UK digital tech ecosystem is now valued at US$ 1 trillion; only the third country to pass this milestone after the US and China, offering a great environment for businesses to grow within the industry.
Officially announced by the UK’s Business Secretary Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch MP, at London Tech Week on 13 June 2023, the Awards build on the success of our previous Tech Rocketship Awards.
The last Awards generated an incredible turnout of innovative applicants and Plan A, Swapcard, and SeeTrue AI are just a few of the remarkable companies that have participated and have gone on to establish thriving operations in the UK.

What are the benefits?
As a winner in your category, you’ll receive a tailor-made growth programme in the UK, including introductions and meetings with industry experts and government sector specialists organised by the UK Government, you’ll also receive exposure and recognition through promotional activities run by DBT to accelerate your growth.
Businesses who are successfully shortlisted will also have access to our Global Entrepreneurs Programme, who will deliver a series of masterclass sessions looking at pitching to VCs, category deep dives and insights on what operating in the UK is really like.
What is the submission period?
The Awards open on 1st March and close on 30th April 2024 at 11:59pm (GMT). Participation in the awards is free.
