A message from Tony McMurray from Ingram Micro and The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Bulgaria.
Today marks 4 weeks till I line up alongside 50,000 runners attempting to run the 42km course of the London Marathon.
As the Chair of the Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Bulgaria I am fundraising for the Award in Bulgaria which is celebrating its 10th Anniversary in 2024.
The Award has given millions of young people around the world a route to explore and develop the skills to thrive, empowering them to take control of their future. Here in Bulgaria, the award continues to provide a growing number of young people with the opportunity to harness the skills and qualities that will help them throughout their lives.
Highlights of my Journey So Far…
To add to my original email below of January 29th
I am now halfway towards my fundraising target of 2,024 GBP (4,700 BGN) [Link given below]
Today I completed my longest training run of 24km around the wonderful steets and parks of Sofia
Next Sunday I will complete my final long run of 3 ½ hours, after which I will start to reduce (taper) the length of my training runs over the remaining weeks as I head towards the big day in April.
As highlighted in my email below, I successfully entered the London Marathon via the challenging ‘Ballot’ not as a Brit BUT as a Bulgarian.
With this in mind I am pleased to advise:
I have purchased my Bulgarian themed running kit (pictures to follow after race day).
I have arranged to visit the Bulgarian Embassy in London wearing my white green and red running kit. I look forward to visiting the Embassy a couple of days before the race to celebrate being one of the few ‘Bulgarians’ runnng the race this year.

Many thanks for taking time to consider supporting this fundraising effort.
Kind Regards,
