Last Saturday, June 3rd, around 50 volunteers from Accedialeft their mark on the planet. For the first of a series of volunteeringevents, they planted around 240 spruce saplings on the 2-decares terrain inVitosha mountain near Aleko hut. The number of trees planted is not accidental– it corresponds to the approximate number of people in the company.
Nikolay Mutafov, CEO of the company, shares more about theidea: “I am personally interested in deforestation issues and their impact onthe planet. In the first months of the war in Ukraine, we helped Gorata.bg Foundation with voluntary renovationwork and material donations. Inspired by their main cause to create newforests, I came up with the idea to plant our own Accedia Forest. That way, wemake our small contribution to the cause and unite our people around somethingmeaningful. In the beginning I envisioned a forest with as many trees as peoplehave been part of Accedia that we can expand as our team grows. Who knows, wemight reach that number at some point.”
Under the supervision of experienced foresters from theState Forestry Administration – Sofia and with the organizational support ofthe Bulgarian Environmental Partnership Foundation (Fondaciya EkoObshtnost) team, Accedia peopleand their friends and families have worked tirelessly to prepare the weedgrownsoil by digging over, forming pits, and sowing saplings.
They have committed to cultivating Accedia Forest and makingsure it grows into a beautiful forest for recreational activities.
