BCC Welcomes Clean Energy Plan for Growth

Oct 31 2025

Responding to the publication of the Carbon Budget and Growth Delivery Plan by the Government today, Shevaun Haviland, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce said:

“Businesses are determined to continue playing a crucial role in the UK’s net zero journey.

“But right now, many firms are facing significant barriers to decarbonisation. Our latest research shows 66% of firms citing high cost as a significant or moderate barrier to making progress on net zero.

“Businesses widely welcome plans for more support on electrification announced today, and the promise of clearer financial incentives for decarbonisation.

“Progress on net zero will also provide a pathway for cheaper energy, as businesses continue to struggle paying their bills. BCC research, last Autumn, showed over a third of firms expected it to be difficult to pay their energy bills.

“Ahead of the Budget, businesses are looking for the Government to provide further support on energy bills.

“A targeted discount scheme to incentivise business towards electrification would both support net zero and cut bills. However, any scheme must be properly funded and bring benefits to firms of all sizes.”

BCC: Regional Investment Key To UK’s Economic Future

Oct 24 2025

Responding to the Chancellor’s speech at the Regional Investment Summit, Shevaun Haviland CBE, Director General of the BCC, said:

These new investments must drive the partnership between government and business to a new level, as we work together to power up our regions.

To boost economic growth, we have to leverage the skills, talent and innovation of every town, city and place.  A thriving network of businesses across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, will ensure we can all prosper and hit our goal of becoming the fastest growing economy in the G7.

“At its heart, growth must be driven by local communities and the firms within them.

“Business has always understood this. Creating strong regions with powerful links between them creates more opportunities for everyone.

“Modern and efficient infrastructure is also a key part of this equation – transport networks, energy grids, digital connections and other utilities must effectively service businesses wherever they are located.

“That cannot happen without an effective and efficient planning system, that is sufficiently resourced and balanced so that this development is properly nurtured.

“Plans to cut the cost of regulation are also welcome, but firms must be consulted so any initiatives have maximum impact. Now is the time to boost growth, and changes like this can help to unleash the innovation of UK PLC.”

Steven Lynch MBE, Director of International Trade at the BCC, added:

“The truth is, history won’t remember another summit, but it will remember the engine that actually delivered growth and most importantly regional growth and investment. The Chancellor’s pledge that no region will be locked out of investment and most importantly that the government will slash red tape and regulations, is a really powerful announcement.

“There is now an opportunity to turn promise into progress. There was a clear understanding that the UK government must rebuild growth hand in hand with business, and place innovation and collaboration at the heart of growth.

“At the BCC, we have the reach, the relationships, and the trust of local business to help make this national ambition a reality.”

Chris Fletcher, Policy Director at Greater Manchester Chamber, said:

“Much of what the Chancellor announced today – particularly the intention to reduce business costs by cutting back on legislation and red tape – will be welcomed by the business community, especially if it helps to speed up the delivery of critical infrastructure projects. The investment commitments within the UK are also encouraging and should support the government’s broader growth agenda.

“However, with the upcoming Budget looming, many businesses remain anxious about the possibility of further tax increases and subsequent price hikes.

“While streamlining administrative processes is certainly beneficial, most businesses are more concerned with issues such as reducing employment costs to make hiring more affordable and driving steady, sustainable sales growth. Long-term investment is essential for the health of the national economy, and the government’s ambition in this area is commendable. Yet for many businesses, the immediate priority remains managing the everyday costs of operations.”

Neterra and NetIX Triumph at the Capacity Global Connectivity Awards 2025

Oct 24 2025

Neterra has been named “Best Central & Eastern European Connectivity Provider” for the third consecutive year, while NetIX has won the award for “Best Internet Exchange Provider.”

Neterra, a global connectivity and IT infrastructure management provider, received the “Best Central & Eastern European Connectivity Provider” award at the Capacity Global Connectivity Awards 2025 for the third year in a row.

Its subsidiary NetIX, which operates one of the fastest-growing global Internet exchange platforms, was recognized as “Best Internet Exchange Provider.” The double success comes as Neterra approaches its 30th anniversary.

Neven Dilkov, Founder and CEO of both Neterra and NetIX, accepted the awards at the official ceremony in London, saying: „I’m truly proud of this double win! Being recognized by the top experts in global telecom, among such strong competition, is just incredible for all of us. Huge thanks to the jury, to our clients for their trust, and especially to our teams at Neterra and NetIX. You made this happen. It’s amazing to see our efforts recognized on the world stage! “

Over the past year, Neterra has continued to grow in terms of both revenue and service volume. This success was largely driven by the strong performance of its connectivity and colocation services.

The company continues to invest actively in international connectivity solutions. Revenue from its dedicated Internet access service increased by 32% year-on-year. Gaining the status of a Starlink authorized reseller has driven significant growth in Neterra’s satellite business, where results more than doubled compared to the previous year.

The judges declared NetIX the winner in its category due to its market disruption over the past year, from the expansion of its Global Internet Exchange (GIX) platform to 50+ IXPs, allowing instant global peering with a single port and cross-connect. The judges stated, “The [GIX] service is highly impactful and substantiated by a 43% YoY revenue growth from recurring services and a record 4.67 Tbps peak traffic.”

About the Capacity Global Connectivity Awards

The Capacity Global Connectivity Awards celebrate the best companies in the world of telecommunications and global connectivity. Participation is free of charge, and projects are evaluated by an independent international jury of prominent telecom experts and analysts. These awards, presented for the 21st consecutive year, are among the most prestigious in the industry, recognizing the genuine contributions of companies to the advancement of global connectivity.
