Businesses Say Hybrid Working Is Here To Stay

Dec 15 2023

New research by the British Chambers of Commerce Insights Unit and technology firm Cisco, shows less than 30% of firms expect their workforce to be fully in person over the next five years.

A survey of over 1,000 businesses, of which 96% were SMEs, found just 27% of respondents predict their staff will be fully in-person over the next five years. 47% anticipate their staff to be mostly in-person, 16% expect mostly remote and 8% fully remote.

The research found a clear divide between different sectors, with business-to-business services firms (such as the finance and legal sectors) more likely to expect remote working. Only 17% of B2B services organisations expect fully in person working, while the figure for manufacturers is 38%, and B2C services 37%.

Companies were also asked about the connectivity tools they use such as video calling and cloud security. A quarter of firms (25%) say they are not confident they have the knowledge to make the right purchasing decisions, while three quarters (75%) are confident. Over half (55%) are relying on external experts when making decisions about adopting technology. 65% of firms say connectivity tools are value for money.

Jane Gratton, Deputy Director Public Policy at the British Chambers of Commerce said:

“Our data shows that hybrid working is now part of the fabric of the modern workplace. For millions of people, logging in remotely for at least part of the working week is now routine.

“This flexibility is valued by employers and their teams. Less than 30% of firms expect staff to be working fully in person over the next five years.

“Flexible working makes good business sense.  In a tight labour market, where employers are competing for skilled workers, hybrid working, and flexible working more generally, has become an important part of staff benefit packages.  As well as boosting recruitment and retention, it can help employers unlock new and diverse talent pools.

“Employers still value regular face to face contact with staff, however, and our findings show only 8% of businesses expect staff to be completely remote. “

Aine Rogers, Managing Director of Small and Medium Enterprise at Cisco UK & Ireland, said:

“Small businesses are the heart of the UK economy, and their most important resource is their people. We know employees thrive in a hybrid working environment, as it enhances their wellbeing, work-life balance, and performance.

“When it comes to choosing the right solution, the key consideration is implementing a simple, secure collaboration platform that can help employees be just as productive remotely, as they would in the office. With the right technology in place, SMEs can also ensure their employees have inclusive, secure and resilient access to their network data and applications, as well as a seamless experience when calling, meeting, and messaging.”

TELUS International Bulgaria conducted “Catch the First Signs” panel discussion with Emprove Foundation

Dec 11 2023

TELUS International Bulgaria and Connections – the global women network of TELUS International, recently concluded a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Catch the First Signs”. The online event was in collaboration with the Emprove Foundation, shedding light on the crucial subject of recognizing toxicity in our daily lives. Hosted by Deborah Rosales, Senior Director of Human Resources | AI Data Solutions and Global Connections Prime, the panel featured Olga Mineva, Founder of the Emprove Foundation and Corina Tiu, Vice President of Operations for Romania, as special guests.

TELUS International team members from around the world (Ireland, Romania, Turkey, The Philippines, Guatemala, El Salvador, India & more) attended and actively engaged in thoughtful conversations on the sensitive topic. Through events like this one, TELUS International demonstrates that it firmly stands against violence of any kind across the globe. “Change begins with conversations and awareness” – said Corina Tiu who emphasized that the company is a guardian of well-being not only for its team members but also of the communities where it operates.

The panel discussion aimed to raise awareness about the significance of identifying toxicity in our everyday lives, with a specific focus on the impact it has on women. Olga Mineva, an organizational psychologist with over 12 years of experience in corporate consulting, particularly in Leadership Consulting, People Development, and Change Management, contributed greatly, provided valuable insights and gave thorough answers to the participants’ questions. Olga passionately champions women’s empowerment and fights against domestic violence. As the Founder of the Emprove Foundation, she brought with her to the panel discussion over a decade of expertise in leadership consulting and people development, which are part of the forefront of the foundation’s mission.

The Emprove Foundation, dedicated to supporting women affected by toxicity and violence, works diligently to help them build new, independent lives. The foundation’s multifaceted approach includes prevention initiatives, art projects, publications, and individual counseling. Their notable project, the EarlyRaiser chatbot, was supported financially by the Community Board of TELUS International Bulgaria last year. The Chatbot actively contributes to the prevention of violence in relationships as it provides accessible, interactive, and valuable support, fostering awareness and prevention among the general audience. It is expected to be launched in the upcoming weeks and thanks to TELUS International Bulgaria the foundation will have another valuable resource to continue the fight against violence in an informed and supportive manner.

Initiative by HPE, Lidl and Shell Bulgaria

Dec 08 2023

Lidl Bulgaria, HP Enterprise and Shell Bulgaria, strongly believe in the benefits of the inclusion, equality, and diversity policies we have adopted and are following. They have become an integral part of our corporate culture and values. As advocates of these policies in Bulgaria and active members of the Diversity Charter, the three companies have launched a joint initiative in this area. Its goal is to share the experience and knowledge of large companies in creating and implementing these policies with small and medium-sized businesses in Bulgaria, which are our natural partners.

Authoritative studies demonstrate that implementing these policies leads to tangible benefits, including improved business outcomes, higher competitiveness and the creation of a favorable environment for development and equal opportunities for all employees. Together, we can help small and medium-sized enterprises in Bulgaria adopt best practices for inclusion, equality, and diversity, thereby contributing to a more favorable business environment in the country. Therefore, with the support of experts from the Center for the Study of Democracy, we have created a questionnaire to gather the necessary information, aiming to provide a starting point for subsequent actions.

The questionnaire can be completed at the following link.

You can the original invitation in Bulgarian in the file below.
