Teach For Bulgaria Foundation is organizing a special stand-up comedy night in support of the “A New Way to Teaching” program and the future 30 new teachers who will join it in September 2026. The event is part of the “May in Support of Education” campaign and aims to bring together supporters, donors, and everyone who believes that every child in Bulgaria deserves access to quality education.
For the past 15 years, Teach For Bulgaria has been working to ensure equal access to quality education for every child in the country – regardless of where they live, which school they attend, or their family’s financial situation. The organization trains and supports teachers, principals, and school teams across Bulgaria, believing that investing in people is the most sustainable path toward positive change in the education system.
For the third consecutive year, the “May in Support of Education” campaign is bringing together businesses and individual donors around the cause of quality education for every child. The funds raised through the initiative will support more than 30 new teachers participating in the “A New Way to Teaching” program, which provides them with practical training and mentorship during their most important first years in the classroom.
The “A New Way to Teaching” program addresses one of the major challenges in Bulgaria’s education system – the high dropout rate among newly appointed teachers. According to a report by the Bulgarian National Audit Office covering the period 2019 – 2023, 34% of newly appointed teachers leave the profession within their first three years, while nearly half of education graduates never pursue a teaching career.
In response, the program provides beginner teachers with free two-year support through training, mentorship, and a professional community. So far, more than 550 teachers have completed the program, with over 80% remaining long-term in the education system, and many going on to take leadership roles in their schools.
The organizers invite everyone who would like to support the future of education in Bulgaria to join the stand-up comedy night with “Three women on the mike” and Inside Joke and help empower the next generation of inspiring teachers.
