For many years, the British Embassy in Sofia have played an annual cricket match in memory of Roger Short, former HMA to Sofia (and cricket lover) who was tragically killed in a terrorist attack on the British Consulate in Istanbul in 2003. The match was interrupted by COVID, but now we are ready to pick it up again! H.E. Rob Dixon has graciously agreed to captain the Ambassador’s XI, and we will play against a BBBA XI. The match will take place pm Saturday 9th September at the Anglo-American School. And of course, in timed-honoured tradition, there will be tea and cakes between innings.

Please confirm if you would like to play by end-July. Don’t worry if you haven’t played for years or haven’t played much at all – it’s just a social game, played for fun. You don’t need cricket whites – shorts and a t-shirt will be fine. We also welcome spectators!

The BBBA Team won the trophy at the last cricket match. Please get in touch with Mark Thomas if you would like to join the BBBA Team at mark@jamadvice.eu
