On 16 September at 19:00, Bulgaria Hall will host the debut of Camerata Bulgarica, a new Bulgarian music platform performing Homecoming with mezzo-soprano Svetlina Stoyanova, whose international career includes the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, La Scala in Milan, Bolshoi Theatre, Vienna State Opera, Glyndebourne, and the Sofia National Opera.
The name of the concert is no accident. Camerata Bulgarica was born abroad: over the past three years, founder and clarinettist Dimitar Moskovsky and Artistic Director Miroslav Georgiev built the concept through four productions for the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship in London and Bavaria. On 16 September, they bring it home.
Camerata draws leading musicians from the Sofia Philharmonic, the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Sofia Opera and Ballet and the Sofia Soloists, and assembles a bespoke ensemble around each production: original arrangements, musical dramaturgy and a carefully curated evening rather than a standard concert programme.
Homecoming is also the public launch of something longer term: a platform connecting musicians, audiences, businesses and international partners around a simple conviction, that culture is an investment in the society we build together.
