About the Charity
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Bulgaria licenses, trains and supports schools across the country that help their students channel creative energy into structured activities. The programme challenges young people aged 14-24 to volunteer, develop personal skills, explore nature and be physically active. It has a positive impact on their lives, improving their goal-setting and leadership skills, promoting resilience, creativity and self-esteem, and changing their overall attitude towards life.
This year, the programme places a special emphasis on unveiling the “hidden talents” of the less active teens. They are Gen Z representatives who live in small or big towns. They are usually uninvolved in extracurricular school activities and need motivation, recognition, and an appealing outlet to express themselves. The Award can be the solution – through its structured programme, they will explore and develop their interests and will have a chance to uncover and develop hidden potential. With us, they can embark on a journey of self-discovery, actively engage with their communities, and become part of a global network. As Kurt Hahn, one of the founders of the Award, wisely said, ”There is more in you than you think.”
